R&G Paddock Stand Bobbins, or R&G Cotton Reels as they are also known as, are designed to fit the KTM 990 SM, 2008 models and onwards. These motorcycle bobbins screw directly in to the threads in each lower side of the swinging arm which then enables a fork type rear paddock stand to be used allowing the back of the motorcycle to be lifted, safely and easily, giving easier access to the chain, sprocket, brake and rear wheel.
These R&G Bobbins also offer some crash protection by having these two additional, and to some degree sacrificial, points of contact in a fall. The R&G Top Crash Protectors for KTM 990 SM SMR and SMT, and the R&G Lower Crash Protectors for KTM 990 SM SMR and SMT are both available for this motorcycle.
