Arai R75 Motorcycle Helmet Shape

Arai have designed all their Motorcycle Helmets with the R75 Shape which is designed to deflect impacts away from the rider or pillion. This R75 shape is a continuous convex curve, in the outer shell, which has a minimum of 75mm radius to give a rounder, smoother and stronger shell form.

Impact (energy) absorption is the primary function of any motorcycle helmet and can be improved in many ways. The R75 shape is an additional unique feature to the protective outer shell and energy absorbing inner shell designed to reduce any impact in 2 ways. The first is to deflect or divert impact energy away from the shell by using a smoother and flatter outer shell surface to glance off an uneven surface, and the second is to dissipate the energy around a larger surface area.
