J&B Motorcycles 20th Anniversary Celebration May 17th 1993 to 20138th March 2018
Julian Button opened the doors to J&B Motorcycles on May 17th 1993. Two decades later and his family-owned company has grown to become one of the region’s leading retailers of high quality motorcycling clothing and accessories, whilst the firms service and repair technicians have gained an enviable reputation for their outstanding workmanship.
Julian has enjoyed a life-long passion for everything to do with the motorcycling scene. A passionate rider himself, he started out in his profession at the age of 16 gaining a mechanical engineering qualification in order to begin work as a motorcycle technician. He moved from Boston to London to realise a dream of becoming a motorcycle despatch rider operating in and around central London and also worked in several Motorcycle shops gaining valuable experience in both sales and servicing within the industry. His intention was to gain as much knowledge, experience and funds within a timescale of two years to set up his own business nearer to his hometown.
He moved back to Boston around 22 years ago to start planning his own entry into the local motorcycle market doing his own market research into the needs and requirements in his selected areas, looking at competition comparison of services already being provided in those areas. In the spring of 1993 he was ready to take on the challenge after drawing up an ongoing business plan and sourcing further funding and business training needed to take the plunge.
He started by taking on one unit on Boston’s Redstone Industrial Estate. Five years later the business had grown to such an extent that a second unit next door was brought into the service so that J&B Motorcycles could provide full motorcycle service repair and MOT facilities. A further decade later and J&B Motorcycles’ comprehensive but easy-to-use website was created, with improvements being made on a regular basis by his team. Through this website, found at www.brandedbiker.co.uk many products are bought by customers not only locally, but all over the world.
Rather than sell motorcycles, Julian and his team concentrate on offering the highest quality branded products which include motorcycle clothing, helmets, parts and accessories. Their ranges of products are sourced from all over the world, including Japan, the United States, Sweden, New Zealand and Europe.
J&B Motorcycles for Motorcycle Servicing and Repair
J&B Motorcycles’ service and repair technicians have access to the specialist workshop equipment to perform servicing, diagnostic testing, tuning and repairs for most makes of motorcycle and scooter. The workshop undertakes motorcycle MOTs Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm and offers a FREE Re-Test if the bike is brought back within 10 working days of the test. J&B Motorcycles continues to work alongside the leading motorcycle insurance companies to provide insurance motorcycle repairs and damage estimates for bike, clothing, helmets and accessories.
Even after 20 plus years in the industry Julian’s enthusiasm for the business knows no bounds, and this becomes very obvious from the moment you start speaking to him.
He says: “Over the years we have exhibited at most of the major shows. Events have taken us to Birmingham’s NEC, the Alexandra Palace Road and Race Show in London, major shows up in Scotland, the London Motorcycle Show at the XCEL Centre and more locally, the British Motorcycle Federation (BMF) Show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, as well as numerous national Race Circuits etc…
We have supported local events too, including the Spalding Bike Show and Boston Bike Night, and remain committed to both.”
“To this day it is all about people. I think there is something very special about a motorcyclist and their passion. I would like to thank our customers for their loyalty over the past 20 years.”
