Both types are designed to give more protection to the Motorcycle chassis and plastics, in the event of a slide, by offering a sacrificial and an extra point of contact. The plastic outers are held onto the motorcycle by de-embrittled bolts so that the impact and abrasion is taken up by the Crash Protector without snapping the fixing bolts.
